Great Falls ,located only minutes from Washington, DC, provides an excellent opportunity for those that love taking a walk in the woods.  Many people visit Great Falls to participate in activities such as hiking, biking, and picnicking. There are several hiking trails available within the park ranging from easy to strenuous. For the more adventurous at heart there is rock climbing and kayaking.  Also, located along the picnic area are several overlooks that offer a nice view of the Potomac River.

Location: Great Falls, VA
Directions: If coming from Rt. 495, take exit for Georgetown Pike.  Take Georgetown Pike/Rt. 193 West.  Turn right at the light onto Old Dominion Drive. Take Old Dominion Drive to guard shack for the park.  See NPS page for more extensive directions.
Trails: River Trail, Mine Run Trail, River Bend Road Trail, Patowmack Canal Trail, Matildaville Trail, Old Carriage

Hiking Information: This park is part of the National Park Service and it charges a fee to enter.  Please check the NPS page for current fees.
Trail Map: A Trail map is usually given out at the entrance of the park.  There is a map posted in the park and also one available on the Great Falls National Park page.
