Upper Greeter Falls

View of Upper Greeter Falls

Altamont, TN

Greeter Falls Loop Trail offers views of several waterfalls but the hiking trail to these waterfalls is not for the faint at heart.  This hiking trail not only can be thin in some areas with a large drop off on one side but it also has a spiral staircase which must be climbed down to view Lower Greeter close up.  The trail can be extremely rocky and there are several places with protruding roots but  if you love adventure and beauty, Greeter Falls may just be the place for you.   Pictured above is Upper Greeter Falls, only 15' in height,  it is still an impressive waterfall.  Its rock face is almost completely flat, it makes one wonder if it wasn't made by man.  Lower Greeter found in the photo album is 50 ft in height and can be viewed close up by climbing down a spiral staircase and a long set of stairs.  On a hot day, there is a noticed temperature difference at the base of the Lower Greeter Falls.  After climbing back up to the top of the bluff, continue on to view Boardtree Falls, a long cascading waterfall, which usually can only be viewed from the trail.
